- A never-answered question around here in the growing season is "What is
- the real difference between black-eyed peas and purple hull peas?"
- The hull of one is either green or straw colored, depending on when they
- are picked, and the hull of the other is purple (the color rubs off on the
- hands, too). My husband, who knows all about growing them has a tendency
- to lump them together in his mind, but it is always the *black-eyed* pea
- that gets served on New Year's Day. Oh, and the eye of the php is not as
- dark as that of the bep.
