- : > What delicacy do we find if we open a box of milky ways?
-
- : We find my favorite candy. Normally they're not in boxes -- they're sold
- : individually in wrappers. They're chocolate with caramel and something soft
- : inside. Some people think they taste kind of like Snickers, but I don't.
- : Snickers are nasty tasting compared to Milky Ways.
-
- Note US Milky Ways aren't the same as UK Milky Ways.
-
- : > "A cop on the pad": a corrupt cop?
-
- : Irritable? (I've never heard the expression -- the ? indicates that's a
- : guess.)
-
- Guess: "on the beat"?
-
- : > "The three moles by the corner of her mouth were the size of BBs":
- : > what are BBs?
-
- : Small bullets used in BB guns -- guns children play with. They are usually
- : played with by older children since they can be dangerous -- BBs can put out
- : eyes. I'm trying to think of something to compare BBs with in size but am
- : so far blank. They're a little smaller than whole pepper corns.
-
- Note the American's idea of 'guns children play with' - we're not talking
- the little spring-loaded Sekeden toys with the gold-painted clay balls -
- these are proper airguns and dangerous enough to do real injury. Over here
- you have to be > 16 to own one, and aren't allowed to discharge it in
- public: private property only or a licensed target range.
-
- : > "You never could resist mashing on a guy's oysters": what, if anything,
- : > does this idiom convey to you?
-
- : Putting him down.
-
- I think we're back to Prarie Oysters again?
-
- : > Vick's VapoRub: what revolting product is this?
-
- : Something for colds, I think. I've heard of it all my life and have
- : seen it in stores, but I'm not really sure what it's used for.
-
- Does 'Oil of Wintergreen' mean anything to you? Ever do athletics. Yuk.
