- On the pad = on the take, taking bribes etc. Like in the gangster movies
- the bad guys had a list of officials who were in their pockets,
- hence "pad" or list of. My grandfather was a Chicago cop and
- used this expression when speaking of his experiences during
- the prohibition era.
