  19. I'm not a historian, but I would have assumed that at the same point in
  20. time that Christianity was banned that foreigners were also banned.  I'm
  21. pretty sure in fact that the practice of Christianity was banned after
  22. the missionaries were expelled.  Akio probably knows better than I do.
