  22. Fair enough. I was only throwing my two bits ($US.18) in. A
  23. further vague recollection is that the Redemptorists went off
  24. to Japan to do some converting. They had vowed to always wear
  25. their garments (scapulars), but doing so in Japan would cause
  26. instant death. The compromise was to wear the garment in a
  27. modified form underneath.
