- Although I've never heard of her, my guess is that she anticipated that this
- area of the world would provide the largest tourist destination of European's
- next year.

- I think her actual birthday lies between these dates. Mondays are the most
- popular days for public holidays.... everyone gets a long weekend.
-

-
- The 7th June in WA is Foundation Day.... which would mean two long weekends in
- a row, so they chose a date which is a public holiday elsewhere in Australia
- to celebrate her birthday.... my calendar shows it as the 4th October which is
- Labour Day in NSW, SA and the ACT.... so I guess she got that one wrong.
-
- >I count at least five different Labour Days, two Australia Days, two

-
- Each state is responsible for determining when they will celebrate the
- particular public holidays.
-
- Labour Day in NSW is always held on the Monday after the first weekend in
- October. It is the 1st March in WA; 8th March in Victoria; 3rd May in
- Queensland; 4th October in NSW, SA and the ACT and it appears that neither
- Tasmania or the NT are having one this year.
-
- Australia Day is one of the few public holidays that is celebrated on the
- day on which it falls in most states..... that's the 26th January... the
- day in 1788 that Captain Arthur Phillip landed in Botany Bay. The remaining
- states are celebrating it the following Monday so as not to disrupt the
- working week.
-
- ANZAC Day is the 25th April which is a Sunday this year and it is always
- celebrated on that day.... the day in 1915(?) that Australian Troops landed
- at Gallipoli. However some states have decided to give there inhabitants an
- extra holiday on the Monday in lieu of that day falling during a weekend...
- the others are not as generous.
