- Why? The story proves outright that even if what you wanted was
- physically possible (certainly there aren't Barbie warranty-registration
- cards...are there?), people would go out of their way to hide the dolls,
- which would then gain even more value, leading to yet more media stories
- about it, and keeping the whole silly controversy going even longer.
-
- Besides, when you get right down to it, math class *is* tough. Being male
- or female has little to do with it, unless you want to get into one of
- those "all teaching is biased against everyone who's not a white male"
- arguments. Torching Barbie dolls isn't the answer (though I'd love to see
- it, since I think the real problem is Barbie leads to _Tiger Beat_, which
- leads to _Sassy_, all of which help to condemn a lot of young female minds
- to a lifetime of mediocre thinking skills); formulating and implementing
- better math education materials is.

- PS-- Anyone know where I can get a copy of "Heather Has Two Mommies" in
- time for Christmas, so I can scare the shit of my straightlaced 1-year-old
- cousin's family?
