  12. OK, what idiot started the perfumed perfume-ad fad?  My nose has been
  13. blocked up all evening and I didn't realise why until I got to that
  14. page of the Times' colour supplement and was hit by the whole strength
  15. of the damn thing.  I had to rush to the kitchen holding it at arms
  16. length to bury it at the bottom of a large black plastic trash bag.

  21. PS I used to think perfume was totally useless but I realise now just
  22. how useful a social indicator it is - knowing someone is the sort of person
  23. who would wear perfume saves weeks of fruitless conversation.  Now if
  24. only the religious and astrological types were that quickly identifiable...
