- Bitmap redrawing is very slow in my WinWord 2.0a. In GRAPHICS.DOC I
- found that "Under the ìMicrosoft Word 2.0┘ section of the WIN.INI file,
- you can add 'BitmapMemory=64' to set the size of the graphics cache to
- 64K. Increasing the size increases the size of the bitmap cache Word
- uses for speeding picture redraw. You should use less than the amount
- of available free RAM."
-
- My question is how do I know the available free RAM? It is neither
- the memory (about 8MB) nor the system resources (about 60%) shown under
- the program manager. Does anyone have experience with this parameter?
- Or how can I redirect the bitmap temporary files to use my RAM-disk
- instead of eating up disk space?
-
- Environment: DOS 5.0, Win 3.1, WinWord 2.0a, x486 12MB RAM with RAM-disk
- (with SET for TEMP and TMP), etc.
-
- All comments appreciated. Thanks. And Happy New Year, too.
