- That's obvious if you think about it. The smartdrv.exe loaded in autoexec.bat
- is an TSR whereas the device=smartdrv.exe -line loads the driver part of
- the "EXE"-file. BTW. How can the driver header and the EXE-header coexist?
- Does anyone know how to communicate with smartdrv. I called MS and they told
- me that the API is a secret. Has anyone hackered the driver and found out
- something? What controls when the write cache is to be written to disk?
-
- Can someone tell us how Windows interacts with smartdrv? Someone once noted
- that smartdrv seems to have to reload a program into the buffer after an
- "start program X, exit program X, start program X" sequence. Does Windows
- tell smartdrv to empty it's buffer when the application exits.
- I do know that most unusual thing to do with windows is to exit and restart
- instead of switching. But possibly if you are short of memory :)
