- A Mac user, eh? How dare you post a question here!!
-
- (Um, really, just kidding; I've got my knee back into its normal
- position now!).
-
- Actually, I'm writing not only to make a lame joke and wish you all the
- best but to suggest that the first thing you might want to consider
- changing about how you use Windows is to find one or more of the many
- different replacements out there for the Windows Program Manager and/or
- File Manager. While those are adequate for starting programs and
- managing files if you don't do much of either, they're, well, not really
- that good. I used a shareware utility called Launch for a while (a
- click of the right mouse button would bring up a list of apps you'd
- either defined or had allowed the install program to enter and then you
- just point at the one you want and off you go!) until I decided on
- Norton Desktop for Windows, which in many ways comes a bit close to the
- Mac interface and is perhaps even more like the OS/2 2.0 Workplace Shell
- (Norton at least gives you configuration choices that OS/2 denies you!)
- interface.
-
- I'd say experiment! FTP'ing to CICA (a well known site for Windows
- stuff: ftp.cica.indiana.edu, take a look in the /pub/pc/win3 directory)
- will net you (sorry for the pun!) at least a dozen alternatives you can
- try out...
-
- I'm quite happy with Windows (have tried OS/2 2.0 and a Mac Plus for a
- while), but I'd welcome your comments about differences between the
- Windows and Mac platforms that might shed some light on what I'm
- missing (maybe I *want* to miss it, but still...!)
-
- Welcome and Merry Holiday!
