- The install procedure is intentionally paranoid. If it thinks you might
- need double-buffering it will install it. The way to tell whether you can
- safely remove it is to run SMARTDRV from the DOS prompt. The last column
- of information that it gives you tells you if double buffering is needed
- for each drive. If all the entries in that column are "no" you can remove
- the double_buffer line from your config.sys. If any of the entries are
- "yes" then you will always need double_buffering for that controller. If
- some of the entries are "--" then SmartDrive does not yet had conclusive
- evidence for that drive yet, check again later. (A good way to give
- SmartDrive the evidence it needs it to open multiple DOS boxes in 386enh
- mode and do disk access from all of them.)
