- I can't say that I understand how SES does it but I did follow the 'stuff'
- in the ESA R1.1 Service Guide (SC24-5527-01) around pg. 6-15 and get the
- build to pick up my local mods. You should read and understand chapter 7
- and appendix "C" of the above manual also. I think it is correct to say
- that for source update service, the entry in the AUX file determines how
- VMFHASM names the text deck. You need to be sure to do this properly.
-
- I think that the secret is to have the file '6VMVMB11 VVTLCL' (mine is on
- the 2C4/"E" disk) updated to point to the correct text deck or loadlist.
- After my first local mod, I started updating this guy manually. This may
- or may not be kosher but it works for me.
-
- What I do now (and I'm sure this is NOT kosher) is ONLY use 'VMFINS BUILD'
- when I've received/applied service from IBM. I then save the 'loadlist'
- that is created from this process. It will have an entry for each text
- deck that goes into the IPL deck. This entry will have the filetype for
- the appropriate version (i.e. TXTxxxxx or TEXT) of each text deck.
-
- Now, when I make local mods to a module, I edit the abovementioned 'loadlist'
- and change the filetype of the module in question as appropriate. To
- create the IPL deck I use HCPLDR with the appropriate parameter list. For
- example 'HCPLDR CP9201D (PUNCH NOCTL' will use the file 'CP9201D EXEC'
- as the loadlist for this deck and punch the appropriate files.
-
- I've added a CP command, a local diagnose and a CP mod which allows me to
- isolate NSS files on certain CP volume(s) using this method. I find that
- it's much faster that letting VMFBLD select the correct version for 1000+
- text modules when I'm only changing one. One drawback is that it forces
- me to do the record keeping for which module I want included in the product
- I'm building. So far, I can live with this...
