- LETTER 16.
- December 21, Monday, 6p.m.
-
- Dear Tim, hello.
-
- I wonder what has happened? Why don't you receive my letters?
- I cannot write you very often now as I spend only two or three
- days a week at my working place but I send you not less than two
- letters a week. Where are they, I don't know.
-
- Tim, first of all I want to report you that Sweta received the
- envelope brought by Volgograd bankers. I hope that I'll meet Sweta
- this week or maybe she'll pass on my envelope through Lidiya.
- And I didn't receive any more letter from you that you sent by mail yet.
- I was fond of your silliness (it is the term used by the author)
- in the letter where you discribed a hypothetical forest walk. It was
- really very nice and rather fun to behave as if we were tenagers
- and to engoy each other and even to be friends against Sasha. I think
- that I just need such kind of communication, it was as a gulp of fresh
- air for me.
-
- This weekend I spent cooking and washing dishes and now I need at
- least three days vacations (It's a pity that nobody offers me to have it).
- On Saturday a small performance was prepared for parents as Nastya
- school by the children. It was devoted to the first aniversary of
- the school. Nastya also took place in this concert. Her friend and
- she wrote fun verses about their school life and sang them as
- "chastushky" (do you remember such kind of Russian folk songs ?).
- Maybe their performance was not exellent, but I saw how they engoyed
- the process of writing (I think that again it was much more interesting
- for them than the result, although it lost any sence without the
- final reult - the opportunity to sing for an audience) and I was
- pleased to see Nastya at the stage in the folk suit singing and
- dancing.
- And then Nastya's friends came to our place and it was very
- interesting for me to watch them. But it seems to me that they felt
- more comfortable staying without my presence, so mainly I stayed at
- the kitchen washing dishes and listnening for their games and laught.
- I think that Nastya was quite happy and I engoyed this fact.
-
- You write that you can't undertand the politics in this country?
- Don't worry, so am I. I'm puzzled to predict what will be the
- economy results of the last changes in the supreme power bodies.
- I don't trut the new head of the Goverment, I don't aprove the
- Congress of our deputates and I don't hope for our President Eltsin,
- so you can see that I'm rather pessimistic now. But let's wait and see.
-
- I wanted to take tennis lessons but I found out that there
- were not any suitable for me Russian tutor for this, only American
- tutor is good for me. And it will be terrible if such wonderful
- tallents for tenni as I have won't be developed. What do you think,
- maybe I should invite the American tutor to come to Russia to give me
- some lessons more? Or maybe I should travel to US for tennis course?
- I need your advise, what to do? Now I must hurry home. Bye, love, kiss,
- Elena.
