- REGIONAL CRUISE MARKET MEETS RISING TIDE (BT-CHRISTMAS EVE 1992)
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
-
- "A wave of cruise liners are flooding Singapore and the
- region with maiden calls". Eight new cruise ships will call at
- the Singapore Cruise Centre for the first time in November and
- December.
-
- Three of the liners will be based in Singapore, while
- the rest are sailing through. The deluxe SEABOURN SPIRIT will
- operate out of Singapore with round trips to Bali and Bangkok.
- DELFIN LINER, the luxury liner will sail regularly from Singapore
- with weekly itineraries.
-
- This influx of cruises to Singapore comes in spite of
- the difficulty some operators claim they have in attracting
- passengers to this region. PSA reported an increase of 94 percent
- in cruise passengers over the same period last year. The forcast
- in 1992 is that Singapore will see more than 350 ships and
- 190,000 passengers calling.
