  15. Well, I have two different file servers giving me abends.
  16. Let me introduce them to our audience:
  17.  
  18. Server number one is a 486-33, has 32 MB of RAM,
  19. and has his own two drives (1.2 GB each).
  20. He is a primary server, in that everyone
  21. logs into him for normal everyday sort of
  22. applications. He is into NFS and would
  23. like to get involved with Netware for Macs.
  24. If you would like to know more about him,
  25. just let me know...

  27. All was fine until recently when he abended with
  28. an error on the lpr module of NFS. Any attempt to
  29. bring him up resulted in the follow error:
  30.  
  31. Abend: AllocateNonMoveableReturnableMemory discovered invalid memory
  32.        block segment
  33.  
  34. Server number 2 is configured the same way, except that his hard
  35. drives are 1 650 MB and 2 1.2 GB in size. He is used for database
  36. access. The problem here is the 650 MB hard drive. He has crashed
  37. twice, the last time with the error:

  39. device #0(5F000) deactivated due to drive failure
  40.  
  41. This is a SCSI drive, and it is the SYS volume.
  42.  
  43. Upon re-boot, the error:
  44.  
  45. Redirection block table mismatch detected on Netware Partition
  46. Device #0(5F000).
  47.  
  48. VREPAIR failed to fix the problem or find any errors. The drive mounts,
  49. and there is 1 block used in the Hot-fix area.
