  12. It sounds very much like the battery went kaplooie. Is there an error code
  13. included with that lovely beep? 162 is the standard IBM setup error letting
  14. you know tha something is amiss. You probably already know this but I'm
  15. always quick to check the obvious. If it is the battery you should be able
  16. to reconfigure your machine forcibly through setup and it should hold the
  17. setup as long as you don't coldboot the machine. If it doesn't keep setup
  18. after a warmboot then the problem probably lies elsewhere. Hope this helps
