- I had to down my file servers for a week to allow for extended
- electrical renovation in our building. When it came time to
- boot the networks, a 2.15c running on a Model 80 greeted me with
- the dreaded "double-beep." Pressing F1, the server did an
- ABEND. I don't have the exact text here, but the message said
- that the drives couldn't be found (160mb and 200mb SCSI).
-
- I ran the REference diskette and found that the SET AND VIEW SCSI
- DEVICES option reported the 200mb drive as a 2048mb drive (not bad
- for the $600 I paid for the 200mb!). A later attempt to config
- reported the 200mb as a 24mb drive.
-
- I've had suggestions that the battery could be bad. Remember the
- server had been down for 1 week. Also that the SCSI drive BIOS chip
- could be bad.
-
- Any ideas?
-
- I have until Monday the 4th to get the server up for the start
- of school.
-
- Just remembered, if I unplug the 200mb drive, rerun the
- Reference diskette to config as a 160mb only system, the SCSI
- error message is not reported, althought NetWare refuses to boot
- because it is still expecting the 2nd drive.
