- We've been running NetWare Name Services on our corporate LAN since
- September. We have over 500 users on five NetWare 3.11 servers in
- the domain. In the next month we will be adding two remote servers
- to the domain attached through T-1 lines.
-
- Our experience with NNS indicates that one must be careful when
- performing activities requiring domain synchronization (as mentioned
- by Chris Ketchum in an earlier message). There are other minor bugs
- in the software but overall it has made management of a large group
- of users distributed over several file servers much easier than if
- we didn't have it.
-
- We suspect that the bindery emulation/synchronization features that
- will be a part of NetWare 4.0 is actually a cleaned up version of
- NNS. If so, integrating your 3.11 and 2.x servers into a NetWare 4.0
- domain structure will probably work well, as long as there aren't
- too many of the older version servers and they aren't spread out
- over a WAN.
