  17. $        Try using the connection activity watchdog at the console...
  18. $        i.e.  SET number of watchdog packets = 10

  20.    This will work if the cause of the problem is users shutting their
  21. machines off without logging out.  However, it is perfectly possible
  22. for the users to log out but leave their machines on, or to establish
  23. a connection by running *NET? but not log in.  In either case, the
  24. machine responds correctly to watchdog packets and will never be
  25. disconnected if its state remains the same.

  27.    The solution, as pointed out by others, is the NLM that clears
  28. connected-but-not-logged-in connections.
