  12. I have read an article in _PC Week_ (Dec. 21, p.41, col. 1) which
  13. discusses a new product from Novell, known as NetWare InPlace Upgrade
  14. Utility, which is supposed to make it possible to convert a "2.x server
  15. into a 3.x server."  It does not affect files, and transfers bindery files
  16. from 2.x to 3.x format.  The article also mentions the general displeasure
  17. in thge weakness of the previously existing NetWare Upgrade tools, which
  18. required things like a DAT.  It is a pain.  I would rather backup to my
  19. DAT, wipe the NetWare 2.x file server clean and rebuild.  My experience
  20. with changing Unix and NeXTStep OSs has shown that a clean wipe is always
  21. preferable, when you consider performance as the key ingredient.

  23. So I hope Novell has done much better now.

  25. I also performed an Archie search, but not surprisingly, found nada.  Too
  26. bad, my timing might simply be a little too early for an Archie listing.

  28. The article mentions that the new utility is available "free on
  29. NetWare and NetExpress.  Is there an internet spot for this utility yet?
  30. Twould make a fine Christmas and Hanukah present,wouldn't it?
