  16.    Products line of products.  The JetLAN is the ASP product line.  Sorry
  17.    about that.  The comments made about the units still hold true.

  40.    NetSprint and JetSprint are two new products from ASP.
  41.  
  42.    I am testing one of their units right now.
  43.  
  44.    The things I liked (according to the literature) was the ability of
  45.    these devices to support up to 16 servers (the HP board supports only
  46.    1 server) and the ability to automatically sense and switch between
  47.    PCL and PostScript modes.

  49.    The first beta unit I received some weeks ago had timing problems that
  50.    caused the unit to occasionally be seen and then not be seen on the
  51.    network.  Not very good.

  53.    I received a second unit several weeks ago that fixed that problem.

  55.    The unit is fast and printed reliably, but I could not get it to switch
  56.    modes as it was supposed to.  I left this unit in unswitchable PostScript
  57.    mode.

  59.    I have just received a EPROM update that now addresses (so ASP says)
  60.    the switching issue.  I will get that sucker installed within the week
  61.    and report back.

  63.    As far as configuration and setup is concerned, ASPs utility and PCONSOLE
  64.    are a snap.  Two minutes and its installed.

  66.    So, the bottom line is that these units have potential.  The jury is out
  67.    until I get this latest fix in.

  69.    ... Also being evaluated at this time is the new Digital Products line
  70.    of print servers.  Unfortunately the units that I really would like,
  71.    those that simultaneously support multiple servers and multiple
  72.    protocols (IPX, AppleTalk and IP) won't be released till several
  73.    months into next year.  Oh well.
