- Subject: SYS:MAIL directories on NW 3.11
- Lines: 42
-
- Hello to all!
-
- I have a question about the subdirectories Netware makes for
- each user in the SYS:MAIL directory.
-
- First some background:
-
- We have a 3.11 server with about 350 users defined and
- 200 workstations. Recently we had a hard disk crash and
- could't get a full restore (don't ask!) so we had to restore
- the bindery from an old copy (using BINDREST).
-
- When BINDREST was run it didn't create the SYS:MAIL
- subdirectories for each user (only for SUPERVISOR, netware
- id 00000001 and subdirectory SYS:MAIL\1). That didn't seem
- to be a problem since we are using cc:Mail and don't user
- individual login scripts (we are running Netware Naming
- Service.)
-
- Once the server was back up and running CAPTURE seemed to
- take quite a bit longer, maybe 6-7 seconds versus 1 or so
- before the crash. After some exploring it seems that the
- capture works right away if a user has a directory in
- SYS:MAIL.
-
- So, finally my question:
-
- 1. Why does capture take longer when a user does not have a
- subdirectory in SYS:MAIL?
-
- 2. How can I easily restore those subdirectories for each
- user without doing it by hand.
-
- Please direct any comments to me directly if possible.
-
- Thanks in advance.
