  17.    The Animal Rights Alerts mailing list has been set up to
  18.    facilitate communication among Animal Rights groups, activists,
  19.    and other interested individuals.  Its primary purpose is to
  20.    enable rapid dissemination of important information about Animal
  21.    Rights issues.  This venue, it is hoped, will serve as an
  22.    important adjunct to periodicals such as Animals Agenda and
  23.    Animals Voice.

  25.    The list will be unmoderated and will not be available in a digest
  26.    format at present.  Any information pertaining to Animal Rights or
  27.    to issues that relate to Animal Rights, such as habitat
  28.    destruction, are welcome.

  30.    Please realize that this list is a public forum and as such it may
  31.    not be the appropriate place to discuss your group's strategic
  32.    plans.

  34.    To join the Animal Rights Alerts mailing list, send the command

  36.       subscribe ar-alerts

  38.    in the body of a message to "majordomo@ny.neavs.com".  Please note
  39.    that this format is different from a normal listserv subscribe
  40.    request since it does not include your name.  If you want to
  41.    subscribe something other than the account the mail is coming
  42.    from, such as a local redistribution list, then append that
  43.    address to the "subscribe" command;  for example, to subscribe
  44.    "program-staff":
