- We are open to the general public as well as to our faculty, staff, and
- students. However, only OSU affiliated patrons may borrow our materials.
- Anyone can use our photocopiers. We also do our best to assist lay/patient
- patrons, both in person and by phone.
-
- Any services which we would provide to our primary patrons for a fee can
- also be provided to non-OSU patrons, but for a higher fee. "Courtesy cards"
- are available for non-affiliated health professionals who can show proof
- that they *are* health professionals -- such as a membership card from a
- health professional organization. These allow non-affiliated individuals
- to borrow our materials, but they still pay non-OSU fees-for-services.
-
- This policy causes very little trouble, as far as I can tell. It does
- take somewhat longer to help non-OSU patrons at times, as they are not
- familiar with terminology and the use of the library, but most of the time
- we just consider this all part of the job. As all libraries do, we some-
- times have "problem patrons" but these can be OSU-affiliated as often as
- non-OSU.
