  15. I have a solution to the "rotten situation" that one of you described in
  16. your post under this head.  It isn't popular, but here it is:  let's stop
  17. requiring Freshman English of all who enter a college or university.  Please
  18. note that I am not recommending that we stop offering writing courses;  I am
  19. urging us to reconsider the universal requirement in writing.  I have come to
  20. this conclusion after five long hard years trying to implement the Wyoming
  21. Resolution, and I'll be happy to write more about my plan if anyone cares to
