  17. UTC completed installation of a router late Friday, 18 Dec 92, to support
  18. our new Internet connection via utk.edu to SuraNet.  Consequently, campus
  19. IP addresses are being converted from older registered but MX-only ones to
  20. the newer "official" SuraNet registered addresses.  To make things worse,
  21. we are also restructuring our domain naming system to facilitate nameserver
  22. maintenance locally.  Needless to say, in the midst of a holiday, we have
  23. no concrete estimates of when things will stabilize.

  25. Bitnet traffic will be unaffected (and we are an end node) provided that
  26. destination addresses reflect the Bitnet address and not an entity in the
  27. old temporary MX-type utc.edu domain.  While things are "almost" normal
  28. locally, SuraNet has "firewalled" our Internet IP addresses at the router
  29. until everything is stable here.  Mail to utcvm.utc.edu, admin.utc.edu,
  30. acad.utc.edu, cecasun.utc.edu, etc., is unpredictable at the moment.
