- BRANCH LIBRARIAN - Ferndale

- Whatcom County Library System in Washington State's Fourth Corner
- has a Branch Librarian position available. We are a rural library
- district serving a population of 70,000 through 10 branches, a bookmobile,
- and a public reference center. Seattle is 90 minutes south of us, and
- Vancouver B.C. is 90 minutes to the north (given no delays at the border).

- RESPONSIBILITIES
-
- Regularly and independently directs the operation of the Ferndale
- Library in accordance with the Library Mission, established plans,
- budgets, policies and procedures. Selects and maintains **all of the
- reference collections** for the Whatcom County Library System.
- Insures and/or provides prompt and effective service to patrons of
- all ages in a very busy library.
- Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff of approximately 4 F.T.E.
- Initiates, develops and maintains positive community relations.

- QUALIFICATIONS
-
- Ability to communicatee clearly and to work harmoniously with the
- public and other staff members is essential. Requires a Master's Degree
- in Librarianship from an ALA accredited school and a State of Washington
- Librarian certificate. Four or more years of library experience, two
- years of supervisory experience, reference experience, and experience
- working with children preferred. Familiarity with the Dynix circulation
- system and electronic databases preferred.

- HOURS OF WORK

- 32 hours per week; schedule may vary; 24 hours at Ferndale; 8
- hours at other WCLS locations.
