- Greetings,
-
- First, I want to say that I am not a neophyte in the ways of my Amiga,
- and have had many fun hours 'under the hood' of my A500, as well as messing
- around with the various cli commands, so when I started having problems getting
- RAD: to work as a recognizable recoverable ram drive, I performed blasphemy....
- I read the manual. I know, I know, this is sacrilege of the HIGHEST order,
- and I confess my sins to all the readers and contributors of this list. But
- this post is not about confession, since I STILL can't get the damn thing to
- work!
- Now please tell me if I am wrong, but if I issue the command:
- 'mount RAD:'
- (yes, I have checked to see if the proper mountlist file is in my mountlist in
- the DEVS directory... :-) )
-
- then: 'copy df1: to RAD:'
-
- and THEN if I rename the 'Copy_of_XXX' to 'XXX', I should be able to do a warm
- reboot without loosing the contents of the 'XXX' in the RAD: yes? You ask why I
- am doing this little bit of hair tearing exercise? Well, it just so happens
- that I have a game that takes more than two disks to run. Having a relative
- plethora of RAM (1 meg chip, and two meg fast via an AdRam expansion board),
- and only two disk drives (and no room on my paltry 20 meg HD), I decided that
- I would simply create a copy of the game in ram and then start the game
- normally.... Yet it seems that this is too much to ask of my stressed system
- since it never seems to recognize the ram disk as being there and asks for the
- offending disk to be inserted into 'any drive' when it SHOULD be in a virtual
- disk already! My system, you ask?
- A500 rev. 6a
- AdRam 540 w/2.5 meg
- the Fatter Agnus (one meg version)
- Novia 20i internal 2.5" 20 meg HD
- one external 3.5" FD
- WB 2.04
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am getting tired of SWITCHING
- disks all the time!!!
