>I'm in need of a Kermit-emulator to pull files from and send files to the Sun station-clone where I have my e-mail account. The Sun runs Kermit-C, and I can't up- or download any files unless I'm using Kermit or an accurate facsimile. I have Handshake 1.6b, but the Kermit mode doesn't work or isn't compatible with what the Sun runs. Help!! Send any help you can give by e-mail only to
I have also had problems with kermit, but I think not to Sun. To one
of the mailbox services in Finland none of my kermit version
works, but I also think that their policy do not take into account
Amiga users (perhaps it would work if one would hack the kermit to
tell it is a PC, grrr).
The kermit support in different terminal emulators varies, some beeing good but
missing the finish and bye commands, thus not enabling the host to function
as a server. Worst experinces do I have from Term, which practicly stucks
up (have not tried in 2.4a though - zmodem works OK in that version!).
(For simple terminal emulation it is though in my opinion better than
Handshake.)
I would recommend a simple but well functioning one: VT100, it is available
on some rather old fish disk. Do not remember, however, did it support the
server commands or not, neither did it have many options or fine windows
telling how the transfer advances, but it worked.
You should also check the line parameters, kermit may be sensitive to that.
