- I developed a mailedit.com file that:
-
- 1. Prompts you as to whether you'd like chevrons ('>') added to
- the front of each line of the original message when you REPLY
- /EXTRACT or FORWARD /EXTRACT a piece of mail.
- 2. Places you into the TPU editor (easily changed to your favorite
- editor).
- 3. Prompts you as to whether you would like your outgoing mail spell
- checked (easily modified for your favorite spell checker).
- 4. Prompt you as to whether you'd like to add you signature file
- to the outgoing mail message (uses sys$login:.signature - easily
- modified).
-
- This is not totally an original work. I admit to picking up the basics
- of it on the net and added some features.
-
- Well, I wrote an article for our newsletter, Interface, about it and a
- number of schools around the country have asked me to send them a copy.
-
- So, instead of answering each of your requests or mailing it out to this
- list (perhaps a waste of network bandwidth), I've made it available from
- the following sources:
-
- a) LISTSERV
- To retrieve a copy, send e-mail to either listserv@ubvm.bitnet or
- listserv@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu and in the body of the mail message,
- not the Subject: line, put the following command:
-
- get mailedit com vms
-
- To see what else is out there, send the command: index vms
- and LISTSERV will send you back a file called VMS FILELIST.
-
- b) VMSSERV
- To retrieve a copy, send e-mail to either vmsserv@ubvms.bitnet or
- vmsserv@ubvms.cc.buffalo.edu and in the body of the mail message,
- not the Subject: line, put the following command:
-
- get mailedit.com
-
- To see what else is out there, send the command: index vms
- and VMSSERV will send you back a file called VMS.FILELIST.
-
- c) Anonymous FTP
- On ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu in the VMS directory.
- On ubvms.cc.buffalo.edu in the [.VMSSERV.VAX.MAILEDIT] directory.
-
- If you have a 'neat' utility you think others may benefit from and
- would like to make it available, feel free to send it to me and I'll
- make it available. If we have enough, we might even consider making an
- EDUSIG tape for the DECUS Tape Library Program. Any ideas about this
- should be sent to Alan Sutter, alan@fandm.bitnet, the EDUSIG Library
- Representative.
