  14. I suggest Thomas Alva Edison, who was both deaf and a reasonably active
  15. engineer in his time.  Though he was wrong in championing DC power lines
  16. over AC, his contributions are not insignificant.  Besides, deaf communication
  17. without the invention of the light bulb would be more difficult (especially at night),
  18. wouldn't you say?
