- Earlier this month a New England region group for lesbian, gay, and bi-
- sexual librarians and library staff held its founding meeting at the
- Harvard Law Library. The 21 attendees --out of about 50 who initially
- expressed interest in such a group-- voted to accept a mission statement,
- named the group --HQ 76/New England (HQ 76 being the LC classification
- for "Lesbianism/Homosexuality --General works"-- and signed an open
- letter protesting the Colorado amendment. The group's next meeting is
- scheduled for 9 January. Anyone interested in further information
- regarding the next meeting, when a set of bylaws will be discussed
- and (hopefully) agreed upon, can contact one of the acting co-organizers:
-
- Beth at "bradcliffe@emerson.bitnet"
- David (me) at "ferris@hulaw1.harvard.edu"
- Karen at "whittles@hulaw1.harvard.edu"
-
- We will be more than happy to share copies of the open letter, which can
- serve as a "universal" letter (just fill in the blank), as well as keep
- folks outside of the NE area who might me interested up to date with
- our activities. We are especially interested in including people
- from school and public libraries, since they are often in the most iso-
- lated and vulnerable position, so if any members of the listserv know
- of people who might be interested in joining this group, please pass this
- information on.
