  20. Minnesota Windpower is now building one of its 35-kW turbines per
  21. week, according to company founder Dan Juhl.  Fifteen of the
  22. redesigned Century turbines are now operating in southwestern
  23. Minnesota. They join five Danish Wind World turbines recently
  24. dedicated by Governor Arne Carlson that were also erected by
  25. Minnesota Windpower.

  27. Construction is nearly complete on the company's new building in
  28. Marshall, Minn., Juhl said, adding that he hopes to begin
  29. assembling not only the 35-kW turbine in the new structure, but
  30. also Wind World turbines to meet contracts for new capacity from
  31. Midwestern utilities.

  33. Juhl expects to bid on a 5-MW contract with Northern States Power
  34. for installation by September 1993.  He's also expecting to close
  35. a deal with Iowa Electric of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 15 MW of
  36. effective capacity.  To activate the contract, Juhl said, he will
  37. install 10 Danish WindMatic 15S turbines currently in California.
  38. After installation of the WindMatics, Minnesota Windpower will
  39. begin assembling Wind World 250-kW turbines to build out the
  40. remainder of the contract, Juhl said.

  42. Though the integral drive train for the Wind World 26-meter (85-
  43. foot) machine will continue to be built in Denmark, Juhl plans to
  44. mount U.S.-built generators on the turbine in Marshall.  Minnesota
  45. Windpower will use Zond's controller and also plans to source the
  46. 40-meter (131-foot) tubular towers in the U.S.

  48. Minnesota Windpower expects to install two of the Wind World
  49. turbines this year for at a consolidated school in Spirit Lake,
  50. Iowa.  Spirit Lake is the southernmost extension of Buffalo Ridge,
  51. a physiographic feature that has attracted international attention
  52. for its high winds (see "Minnesota Continues to Document Wind
  53. Potential," Wind Energy Weekly #436, February 18, 1991, p. 5).
