- There is a third party solution currently available from Digital Products
- called LANSprint for VINES. Essentially, it a hardware/software solution
- that can be installed into any PC and used as a workstation or dedicated
- print server. The print speeds are really quite remarkable, and
- LANSprint takes the lion's share of the load off the CPU when installed on
- a workstation. It is available with 1 or 2 parallel ports and simply
- replaces the Banyan PC Print.
-
- Digital Products will also be shipping a product called NETSprint 100 for
- VINES somewhere around March of 1993. This product simply plugs into
- Ethernet or Token Ring and allows you to plug serial/parallel devices into
- it. They are currently shipping this product for Novell and AppleTalk.
- The high end product (NetSprint 200) simultaneously supports multiple
- protocols including Novell and AppleTalk, with VINES, and TCP/IP coming in
- Quarter one of 1993.

- This is the only company I know of that offers, or is planning to offer,
- the VINES supported products your looking for. My hopes are that Banyan
- will support network attached printers within it's NOS SOON! VINES for
- SCO UNIX already does because it takes advantage of the network printer
- support in SCO UNIX.
-
- Good luck.
