- Paul,
-
- I just tried it three times and it did not work as you described. Here's what
- I did:
-
- On a Mac SE/30 with the VINES Init(Extension) 1.2, I first tried to login
- through the VINES chooser item. I logged in successfully with my correct ID
- and password. I then followed your instructions and logged out, then
- immediately tried to login in again using a different password. I got the
- message "Connecting to the VINES Network" and the globe spun a few times, so I
- thought you might be right. However, after a couple of seconds, the message
- "Invalid username/password pair or server is unavailable" came back. I tried
- this three times with different passwords, all with the same error message
- generated.
-
- Next, I thought you might be talking about the AppleShare service instead of
- the VINES icon. So, I picked out my VINES/AppleShare server using the
- AppleShare icon. Again, I successfully logged in with my correct user ID and
- password. However, when I tried using a different password, I got the message
- "Sorry, your password is incorrect. Please reenter it." Again, I tried this
- three times.
-
- I'm sorry I can't confirm your findings. Perhaps, it is something in your
- configuration. This is how we are configured:
-
- VINES 5.00(5), Mac SE/30 through Quadra 700, Mac System 6.0.8 through 7.1,
- 10BaseT EtherTalk, single Mac IIfx performs all routing (i.e. VINES servers
- AppleTalk ports are non-seed). Hope this helps.
