  11. You will find most about it in Appendix A in the Installation Guide. The
  12. program ConfEdit.EXE will let you edit the configuration file while
  13. displaying help about the option you are currently editing. Very nice.

  15. Make sure the environment variable PCTCP points to the configuration file
  16. before you run anything. If you have the SetPath program ( on csus.edu ), run
  17. it with parameters Z:\;N:\PCTCP;+ PCTCP=C:\VINES\PCTCP.INI to add the PCTCP
  18. directory to the path, put Z:\Mail.EXE before PCTCP's Mail.EXE in the path,
  19. and set the environment variable. Run SetPath -N:\PCTCP PCTCP= when finished
  20. with PCTCP. Quite nice.

  22. You still have to run EBanyan or IBanyan, but at least administrators won't
  23. have to mess around with everybodys config.sys files any more. If they want
  24. to, it's still possible to do it the old way. Rather nice.

  26. If you used the installation program, you should have a configuration file
  27. suitable for a Banyan network, named PCTCP.INI. If not, then at least make
  28. sure you have the section [PCTCP IBANYAN] with the option bserver=servername,
  29. where servername is the name of a server with the TCP/IP routing option. You
  30. don't need a default gateway if you use IBanyan, but it won't hurt either in
  31. case you use IBanyan and EBanyan alternately. Nice.

  33. I still haven't had a chance to try out continuation files. You will find
  34. more about this on page A-6 in the appendix. It is not listed with the other
  35. sections. It should make it easier to have part of the configuration on a
  36. network. Unfortunately it says whole sections will be searched for, not
  37. options, which I think makes it impossible to have one option shared on a
  38. network and another option in the same section on a local disk. Not nice.
