  11. We are developing software that monitors a port for Carrier Detect to come
  12. "high" signifying a remote "user" has connected over modem.  After the
  13. Carrier comes up we will go through a "login sequence" on the port.

  15. We do not want to waste CPU checking for carrier.  Is there a way to]
  16. sleep until CD is raised?  How does getty operate in this situation?
