  13. Well here are some statistics from the CSC gopher for you information.
  14. I use the gla utility to produce this report.

  16. I would be interested to know what is happening at other Bio-Gophers,
  17. since I have no indication if our gopher is over-active or under-active, or 
  18. whether the user profile... predominately national, is an exception rather
  19. than the rule.
  20.  
  21. Steps in producing the report.
  22.  
  23.     1) grep BioBox /tmp/gopher.log > BioBox.stat
  24.        Will produce a file with all the references to BioBox in it
  25.     2) /usr/local/etc/gla.pl < BioBox.stat > bionaut.stat
  26.        Will then make an analysis of the calls to BioBox and put
  27.        it into bionaut.stat
  28.  
  29. Some general commets. The overall statistics for a one month period shows
  30. that we have had 11604 logins from 687 domains. It would appear that
  31. the main users are Finns and we do not have so much traffic from abroad.
  32. The usage of BioBox amounts to 10% of the total useage.

  48. Here is the breakdown for BioBox, which gives the sites which use BioBox
  49. on a daily basis. That is to say 30 calls per month. The Finnish sites
  50. account for 53.5% of the traffic, and the rest of the world accounts for
  51. 46.5% France, Germany, UK, Canada USA and Estonia seem to be the "power users"
  52. All in all there was 239 different domains called into BioBox. So it would
  53. appear that there are many tourists in gopherspace.

  84. BioBox so that we could tailor the services to meet their needs.

  90.     3) Looking what other bio-resources have to offer.
  91.     4) Browsing through WAIS sources related to biology.
  92.     5) Finding people on the net
  93.     6) Gaining access to libraries
  94.     7) Reading Bionet Newsgroups.
