- It's funny that people should be talking about all the buses in San
- Francisco going to the Financial District. Starting about 1978 the
- Muni implemented a five-year plan which changed the routing structure
- from a spoke system to a grid system. That's when bus routes like the
- 29 and 48 came into being; they were providing ways to get across the
- City without going downtown. It's one of the things that got me most
- interested in transit, since I was living there and had read the
- plan.
