- It is an interesting exercise to examine where you spend your money
- and ask yourself whether the money expended in different areas has
- proportional benefits. For me, basic cable would cost more than my
- electricity and would be far less useful. (Admittedly, the
- determination of cost vs. benefit is mostly non-mathematical --
- for instance, what price do you place on health?)

- The Nasty Bay Area Cable Companies bank on the assumption that most
- people hold values different from mine. This assumption seems to work
- well for the NBACCs; more power to them. If, on the other hand, the
- consumers truly felt costs vs. services were inordinate, they would
- all boycott the NBACCs and have them by their gizzards. Would this
- ever happen? I'd say the chances of it are about the same as
- eliminating the national debt...
