  14. It is an interesting exercise to examine where you spend your money
  15. and ask yourself whether the money expended in different areas has
  16. proportional benefits.  For me, basic cable would cost more than my
  17. electricity and would be far less useful.  (Admittedly, the
  18. determination of cost vs. benefit is mostly non-mathematical --
  19. for instance, what price do you place on health?)

  21. The Nasty Bay Area Cable Companies bank on the assumption that most
  22. people hold values different from mine.  This assumption seems to work
  23. well for the NBACCs; more power to them.  If, on the other hand, the
  24. consumers truly felt costs vs. services were inordinate, they would
  25. all boycott the NBACCs and have them by their gizzards.  Would this
  26. ever happen?  I'd say the chances of it are about the same as
  27. eliminating the national debt...
