- The Art/Wine/Food/Festival posting is in winter hibernation. It will
- awaken when the spring craft season is about to start. For those folks
- who wish to join the craft fair circuit, I would suggest one of several
- courses of action:
- 1) contact one or more craft fair promoters. Most craft fairs are judged,
- i.e. they don't just let anybody participate that wants to. Some shows
- are judged more critically than others. The only promoter that I can
- find in my files is
- terry pimsleur & co.
- 2155 Union Street
- San Francisco, CA 94123
- (415) 346-4446
- 2) contact one or more touring craftspeople. This is an invaluable
- source of information. You'll learn which fairs to attend and which
- to avoid. You'll learn about the promoters. You'll learn all the
- rules. If you are serious about being a touring craftsperson, send
- me some e-mail and I'll hook you up with some established folks.

- DISCLAIMER FOLLOWS
- I am not, have never been, and do not plan on being associated with any
- art, wine, food, or craft festival or promoter. I am simply someone who
- likes to attend these festivals. By attending 15-20 festivals a year, I
- get a chance to build rapport with the artist I see every week. I talk to
- them, and find out how the fair system works. It is a tough business.
- It is thus for several reasons that I provide the craft fair schedule,
- I provide it for both the producers and the consumers. (Of course, I also
- provide it for me so I don't miss anything!).
-
- One last thing, nearly half of my Christmas shopping was done at the craft
- fairs. It sure is nice when your Christmas shopping is done by June :-)
