  15. The newsgroup ba.announce is for the posting of announcements that
  16. would be of interest to the entire Bay Area Usenet Community.  The
  17. intent is that every Usenet reader in the Bay Area should be able
  18. to subscribe to ba.announce without being overwhelmed by volume.
  19.  
  20. Format:

  22. Postings should be short; the ideal posting would be less than 50
  23. lines.  Please remember to format your postings for 80-column
  24. screens, as that is the most common screen size on the net.  Also,
  25. please check your spelling and grammar.
  26.  
  27. Please include location information in the Subject: line!  Not counting
  28. sites in other states and countries, the Bay Area Usenet distribution is at
  29. least 6 hours' drive across, and longer if you take public transit.
  30.  
  31. If you are announcing an event for a specific date, please include an
  32. Expires: header.
  33.  
  34. Subject matter:

  36. Content is restricted to announcements only.  Discussions are not
  37. appropriate material.  If you are announcing a meeting for an
  38. organization that is not well-known, please feel free to include
  39. a short statement of the organization's history and purpose as a
  40. part of the announcement posting.  Please do not send us background
  41. material as separate postings; it will be sent back to you.

  43. For sale/wanted, or rental ads are not appropriate material.  Please post such
  44. ads to the proper ba.market group.  Any postings of those types will be
  45. returned if possible, and dropped into the bit bucket if not.

  47. Announcements of seminars should be posted to ba.seminars.

  49. For-sale and for-rent advertisements should be posted to the appropriate
  50. ba.market group.

  56.       * Party announcements or other social get-togethers.
