  12. The newsgroup ba.announce is for the posting of announcements that
  13. would be of interest to the entire Bay Area Usenet Community.  The
  14. intent is that every Usenet reader in the Bay Area should be able
  15. to subscribe to ba.announce without being overwhelmed by volume.

  17. Format:

  19. Postings should be short; the ideal posting would be less than 50
  20. lines.  Please remember to format your postings for 80-column
  21. screens, as that is the most common screen size on the net.  Also,
  22. please check your spelling and grammar.
  23.  
  24. Please include location information in the Subject: line!  Not counting
  25. sites in other states and countries, the Bay Area Usenet distribution is at
  26. least 6 hours' drive across, and longer if you take public transit.
  27.  
  28. If you are announcing an event for a specific date, please include an
  29. Expires: header.

  31. Subject matter:

  33. Content is restricted to announcements only.  Discussions are not
  34. appropriate material.  If you are announcing a meeting for an
  35. organization that is not well-known, please feel free to include
  36. a short statement of the organization's history and purpose as a
  37. part of the announcement posting.  Please do not send us background
  38. material as separate postings; it will be sent back to you.

  40. For sale/wanted, or rental ads are not appropriate material.  Please post such
  41. ads to the proper ba.market group.  Any postings of those types will be
  42. returned if possible, and dropped into the bit bucket if not.

  44. Announcements of seminars should be posted to ba.seminars.

  46. For-sale and for-rent advertisements should be posted to the appropriate
  47. ba.market group.
