A good resource for those wanting to get / remain scientifically literate
is Tuesday issues of the New York Times. Starting on page B5, every
Tuesday, is "Science Times." It has about 5 pages of the latest news
about science, computers and technology. One or two of the articles will
appear (usually abridged) in the American-Statesman a few days later
(often on Sunday).

Here are the topics of the Dec. 29 Science Times:
>Big Science Squeezes Small-Scale Researchers (Gravity device finds favor
in Congress but others may suffer)
>Chronic Pain Fells Many Yet Lacks Clear Cause (Under current legal
system, the suggestion of pain may become the real thing)
>Power of Natural Toxins to Kill Pests Wanes Quickly From Overuse
(Discovery casts a cloud over efforts to develop a wider range of
biological controls)
>NASA Will 'Hammer' Probe's Stuck Antenna
>Alien Species Threaten Hawaii's Environment (A tropical paradise's
blissful isolation has become its Achilles' heel)
>U.S. to Buy Russian Plutonium
>Comet Alert Canceled, Thanks to New Data (Little chance is seen of a

Anyway, it is lots of information for 75 cents.
