  14.     Fellow CD-ROM buyers.
  15.     We now have 19 people wanting one of the CICA CD-ROMS described
  16.     below. I've spoken with Bob Bruce at Walnut Creek about bunching
  17.     differing CD-ROM's in the same order for a better price and we can 
  18.     do it. So, look through the list, let me know which one's you want, 
  19.     what's the max price you'll pay for it(ie if we don't get 25 discs
  20.     in the order, would you still pay the qty 10 price)and I'll let you 
  21.     know what we've worked out. Also note the CD-ROM Sony Caddies for 
  22.     $4.95, everwhere else I've seen these, they're $8+ for them, so if 
  23.     you need 'em this is a good deal.

  26.     can think of relatives or friends who might want one of these, NOW
  27.     is the time to buy it, since the price would be better than they'd

  40. A new CICA Microsoft Windows CD-ROM is available.  It contains the
  41. entire MS Windows archive from ftp.cica.indiana.edu.  There is about
  42. 200 megabytes of zipped files and another 350 meg of the same stuff
  43. unzipped.  There are index files included for several BBS's including
  44. pcboard, opus, RBBS and spitfire.

  46. If you want to see what is on the disc, you can ftp the index.txt and
  47. and readme.txt from cdrom.com (192.153.46.254) in /pub/cdroms/cica.

  49. The disc is available for FREE to anyone that has contributed any of
  50. their own work to the cica collection.  Just email me your name, address,
  51. and the name of the program(s) that you wrote.  Overseas addresses are ok.

  53. If you are not a contributing author, the price is $25.  S&H is $5 for
  54. US/Canada/Mexico, and $10 for overseas.  If you live in California, please
  55. add sales tax.  You can pay by check, money order, Visa/MC/Amex, gold

  102. Here is a list of the discs that are currently available:

  104. Simtel20 MSDOS CD-ROM.  This disc contains about 640 Megabytes of utilities,
  105. programming tools, source code, technical documentation, etc.  It includes
  106. the entire Simtel20 MSDOS Archive.  There is an index file in each directory,
  107. and a master index file in the top directory that describes each file.  The
  108. current editon of this disc was made in December 1992.  The price is $24.95.

  110. CICA Microsoft Windows CD-ROM.  This disc contains 520 Megabytes of Microsoft
  111. Windows programs.  It includes hundreds of utilities, games, fonts, bitmaps,
  112. etc.  All are written especially for Windows.  It includes the entire CICA
  113. Windows collection from Indiana University, both zipped (200 meg) and
  114. unzipped (350 meg).  This disc was produced in November 1992.  The price
  115. is $24.95.

  117. Garbo MSDOS/MAC CD-ROM.  This disc contains the Garbo archive from Vaasa
  118. University in Finland.  It contains almost 400 Megabytes of software.  About
  119. 250 meg is for MSDOS, and about 150 meg is for Macintoshes.  The price is
  120. $24.95.

  122. Source Code CD-ROM.  This disc contains the Usenet source archives, the
  123. Simtel20 Unix-C Archive, and a large collection of MSDOS source code.  There
  124. is a total of about 600 megabytes of source code.  It is mostly C, but also
  125. has some pascal, lisp, c++, modula2, fortran, assembly, etc.  This disc was
  126. made in March 1992.  The price is $39.95.

  128. X11R5 and GNU CD-ROM.  This disc contains all the X11R5 Window System sources,
  129. including all the contributed software, all the GNU source code, and sparc
  130. binaries and libraries for the Gnu programs and the X11R5 server and clients.
  131. The X11R5 sources are at patch level seventeen.  This disc is in Rock Ridge
  132. format, so full unix pathnames are visible on systems that support the
  133. RR extensions.  This CD-ROM was made in December 1992.  The price is $39.95.

  135. AB20 Amiga CD-ROM.  This disc contains the ab20.larc.nasa.gov Amiga archive.
  136. There is about 130 megabytes of Amiga programs, and all of comp.sources.amiga
  137. and comp.binaries.amiga.  Ab20 has gone offline, so this is a snapshot of the
  138. final state of the archive.  This disc will not work with CDTV.  This CDROM
  139. was made in May, 1992.  The price is $24.95.

  141. Hobbes OS/2 CD-ROM.  This disc contains the OS/2 archives from hobbes.nmsu.edu
  142. There is about 2000 OS/2 programs (220 Meg).  Many of the same programs are
  143. also included as uncompressed files, for a total of over 550 meg of software.
  144. The files on this disc were downloaded in November 1992.  The price is $24.95.

  146. Desktop Library CD-ROM.  This disc contains several thousand works of
  147. classic literature, historical documents, and technical information.
  148. The complete works of Shakespeare, Chaucer, Virgil, Dante and Milton
  149. are on the disc, along with books by Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Stephen
  150. Crane, Herman Melville, and Edgar Allan Poe.  The text of many treaties
  151. and international agreements, Supreme Court decisions, the 1991 CIA
  152. world fact book, dictionaries, thesaruses, and word lists.  There is
  153. a large collection of technical documents, including all the internet
  154. RFCs.  All the files are plain text ASCII, so this disc can be used on
  155. almost any system.  The price is $39.95.  [There has been a legal
  156. challange to the public domain status of some of the works on this disc,
  157. so we have suspended sales until the matter is resolved.  We hope to
  158. begin shipping again in early 1993.]
  159.  
  160. Libris Britannia CD-ROM.  This disc was made as a joint project with
  161. the Public Domain and Shareware Library of Sussex, England.  It contains
  162. over 600 meg of up to date, and very well indexed software.  It is biased
  163. toward the technical and scientific PC user and includes extensive
  164. sections on electronics, engineering, mathematics, medicine, ham
  165. radio, and other specialist areas.  PDSL acts as librarian for the UK
  166. C User's Group, and the programming section includes the UK CUG volumes.
  167. The disc comes with a 124 page manual that contains capsule descriptions
  168. of about 100-250 words for each item, with information on version number,
  169. registration fee, and hardware required.  This disc was made in November
  170. 1992, and costs $69.95.

  172. Info-Mac CD-ROM.  Over 4000 programs from Stanford University's SUMEX
  173. Archive, including desk accessories, games, virus dectection programs
  174. and commercial demos.  It is also jam-packed with graphics, sounds and
  175. Hypercard stacks.  For the more technically inclined, there are source code
  176. samples and entire program listings as well as technical documentation and
  177. discussions.  The programs on this CD-ROM are from Stanford University's
  178. Sumex-Aim Info-Mac Archive, one of the most complete and up to date
  179. collections of Macintosh software.  This disc is in HFS Mac format.
  180. It was made in August 1992.  The price is $39.95.

  182. All of these discs, except the Info-Mac Disc, are in ISO-9660 format, so they
  183. are readable on almost any system.  No special software is required.
