  15.         CABLE RATES ARE GOING UP:
  16.    Some cable TV companies are hitting customers with steep price
  17. hikes four months before action on a law designed to hold rates
  18. down. Most of the nations' 11,000 cable systems are expected to
  19. raise monthly rates for 1993. And most of the announced increases
  20. exceed inflation - now about 3% annually. The National Cable
  21. Television Association says increases nationwide average about 6%.

  23.          COST OF IMPROVEMENTS BLAMED:
  24.     Cable operators say recent price increases reflect fast-rising
  25.  costs for programs and capital improvements, such as replacing
  26.  wire cable with fiber optic lines. "The cost of business is going
  27.  up," says Randall district manager of Continental Cablevision in
  28.  St. Paul, Minn. "People are a too quick to judge cable right now."

  30. Maybe we could organize a mass boycott of Austin Cablevision, ie get
  31. 500-1000 people to all agree to cancel the cable on February first if
  32. they don't lower the cost, Carry the Sci-Fi and Cartoon channel, upgrade
  33. their equipment for more channels.

  36. stereo... ;-)
