- This is interesting. As I mentioned in an earlier posting, we have been
- trialling a pair of data compressors on the link to the USA. These devices
- do in-line compression of data as it goes by and in theory provide increased
- throughput on a link of any given speed. They do not seem to have done
- particularly when in practise, possibly because much of what is moved
- over the link to the US is file transfer, and much of that is already
- compressed.

- The devices have been removed from the link because one of them stopped
- working yesterday, so I will be very interested to hear if you (or anyone
- else for that matter) *stops* having problems that have appeared since
- Sunday 13th December (Australian Eastern Summer Time).
