- Can anyone help?
-
- I have a 486 running Interactive Unix that works fine with both the Maestro
- 2400 XR and the Maestro Data Optimizer, but with the Maestro Super Executive
- the UNIX getty process for the SE just hangs. No response is given to the
- remote user. I thought perhaps it had something to do with err. negotiation,
- but getty should still be able to cope with this !!!
-
- An alternative to allow a constant speed interface (and other niceties) is
- to use the inittab entry getty replacement program 'modem'.
-
- Again with this properly configured, I can get the XR & the DO to purr.
- But the SE appears to cause a getty (normally spawn'ed by modem upon each
- connection) to be (falsely) respawn after a call hangs up, with the result
- that all further calls are ignored (until of course I kill the getty process).
-
- The settings I am currently attempting are the factory default with
- the following additions:
-
- &C1 &D2 &Q6
-
- using a constant speed (19.2K) interface between the PC & the modem.
-
- I suspect that the 'modem' problem may lie with the way the line is dropped on
- hang-up but I've looked at the signals as they change through a breakout box
- with LEDs and I don't seem to find a problem, ie DCD drops then DTR is
- toggled.
-
- Has anyone experienced difficulties in configuring the SE to UNIX ???
-
- Any cures or suggestions at all would be a great help.
