- May I ask a basic question as someone new to thinking about WAIS? Since
- WAIS allows one to index the full-text of a document, does it also create
- an inverted index that facilitates searching the document? If so, I
- would assume that such indexing would require a large amount of disk
- storage. Is there some formula one can use to determine how much disk
- space would be necessary to store a text file and any accompanying indexes?
-
- On the other hand, if WAIS does not create a separate index file, how does
- one calculate the necessary space needed? Thanks for any input here!
